Style
Most of my work is what I call vibrant realism - close attention to detail, but also vibrant and alive, capturing the joy and beauty I find in nature.
What I Paint
Mostly I paint home - the southern landscapes that are my connection to the earth. My best childhood memories are of wandering through the woods and fields of southern Virginia with my free-spirited grandfather. I also have a deep connection to the dense woods and windswept Balds of North Carolina's Blue Ridge mountains.

>>In 7th grade health class, I got caught sketching my health teacher when I should have been taking notes. I thought I was in trouble, but instead he asked me to paint a portrait of each of his children. After several months of work, I presented this painting to him one morning before school. I was 13. I'll never forget his face when he saw his son on my canvas. I am forever grateful to this teacher who gave me my first commissions, my first earnings from my craft - $35 each - and a big shot of adolescent confidence.
